Loxley member joins Household Cavalry Mounted Band

John Berry, a former member of Loxley Silver Band, has been accepted into the Household Cavalry Mounted Band; the only mounted band in the Army. John is in the Blues and Royals. This regiment has the Freedom of the City Of London and the right to gallop in the Royal Parks with swords (or cornets) drawn. Last week John took part in the Trooping of the Colour and Major General's Parade, which takes place outside Buckingham Palace. John will be taking part in the Queen's Birthday Parade on 11th June and a lot of ceremonial work over the summer and also spends a month at the Edinburgh Tattoo in August-September. John said: “it was pretty tough on the riding course, from absolute novice to accomplished mounted dutyman in 16 weeks, but I’m enjoying it now”.
