Calling all brass banders!
Do you have a brass banding story to tell?
Every bander knows that to be a part of a band is to be a part of a family for life. That's why Brass Bands England, custodians of the Brass Bands Archive, want to hear about the stories and memories of those from across the country.
We are looking for participants to contribute to an exciting and ambitious story-gathering project that will celebrate those people and events that have made brass banding what it is today — and those that are trailblazing for the future.
About the project
In this phase of our work, we will be interviewing a select number of people who will be given the opportunity to share their experiences in brass banding. These interviews will not only be part of an exhibition at Heritage Quay, Huddersfield, but preserved in the Brass Bands Archive for future generations to hear.
Our aim is to collect stories that show how brass banding fits into people's lives. There is no specific topic — it could be about the people and connections you have made, a particular performance, or how brass banding has impacted your life.
Who are we looking for?
We are keen to hear from people of all different brass banding backgrounds, no matter your age or level of playing experience. Whether you're a music student, a player of five or fifty years, a conductor, composer, or simply a brass band lover — we want to hear from you!
There is no specific topic we are looking to hear about. Your story is yours to tell.
