We've officially launched a social media campaign to highlight the community benefits of brass banding during Brass Band Week!

Interim CEO of Brass Bands England, Sarah Baumann, commented: ‘This Brass Band Week we want to make sure we highlight more than the events happening across the country, we want to make sure we shout about why banding is so important. When we ask the question ‘what does banding mean to you?’ - people often talk so passionately about community, feeling like they belong and the lifelong opportunities banding brings. We wanted to highlight all of that and really bring it to life this Summer.’

Thank you to our members Weymouth Concert Brass, City of Bristol Brass Band, City of Birmingham Brass Band, Kinetika Bloco, Freckleton Brass Band, to participants at our conferences, and to some of our youth programmes for featuring in this film.

Join the campaign

Throughout Brass Band Week join the campaign by sharing on social media what #ThisIsBanding means to you and your band. Maybe it’s your favourite piece, or what your band is performing this Brass Band Week, or sharing a more personal story of what banding means to you. Post your clips on social media and use the #ThisIsBanding hashtag and tag the Brass Bands England social media accounts. Feel free to send content directly to [email protected] too.

Supported by Heritage Fund

The #ThisIsBanding campaign is part of BBE’s National Lottery Heritage Fund project and we are grateful for their support, alongside the ongoing support of Arts Council England.
