Brass Bands England (BBE) is inviting volunteers to be part of the UK's largest youth brass band event, Youth Champs 2026.

Taking place on Saturday 28 March at King Edward’s School, Birmingham, the day will see 42 bands and more than 2,000 young people perform across four sections.

Volunteers play a vital role in making the event run smoothly and creating a positive experience for performers, audiences, and supporters. A wide range of roles are available, including band guiding, stage management support, registration desk, hall stewarding, general venue guiding, and more.

Volunteers are welcome to help for part of the day or the full day, depending on availability, with the event running from 9am - 9pm. Reasonable travel expenses can be covered for those travelling from within a fair distance of the venue.

On the opportunity, Jess Wilson, Events Manager at BBE, said: “Our volunteers are absolutely central to the success of Youth Champs. Their support, energy and commitment help us deliver a day that means so much to the young people taking part. We make every volunteer a full part of the team, and we’re incredibly grateful for the time and care they give to the event.”

Volunteering at Youth Champs offers a rewarding opportunity to support young musicians, gain experience in live event delivery, and be part of a welcoming and passionate team. Anyone interested can register their interest via this form.

On Wednesday 17 June, on the invitation of Brass Bands England, a group of MPs gathered in Westminster to establish the APPG (All Party Parliamentary Group) for Brass Banding.
