Enfield Brass Band

Based in North London, the Enfield Brass Band is one of London's oldest brass bands. We are of a good and improving standard with mixed age and ability players. The band prides itself on welcoming new players and of developing the idea of "band family". The band's aim is to create an environment where making music together is fun and enjoyable, whilst striving for individual and collective musical improvement. We do so without the pressure and politics of contesting.
Having fun is a key part of this philosophy, as you can see from the photos on our gallery page.
The band has members with vastly different musical backgrounds, some players have played (and still do) with many different musical groups, whilst for some, the Enfield Brass Band is their first and only experience of playing in a musical group.
Any new player who is enthusiastic and keen to improve will always be made most welcome. This 'open door' philosophy (even if this means sharing parts) is essential if the band is to continue to flourish. We are particularly keen to encourage young players.
We're conducted by Alan Duguid, director of music at St Ignatius College in Enfield.
We welcome and positively encourage all prospective new members to come along. This is regardless of whether there is a specific vacancy being advertised. We are a non contesting band and as such we are happy to share, and be flexible about who plays what part. You can be assured of a warm and genuinely friendly welcome at all times.
We know from first hand experience that making that first call and then coming along for the first time can be a bit daunting, especially if you are feeling a bit rusty. That's how we all feel at times. Don't worry! Please make the call and we'll take care of you. We are always in need of new players and we actively extend a very warm welcome to anyone who wants to come along and give us a try.
