We are Houghton Area Youth Band. We were formed in September 1973 for children aged between 6 – 21 years old to meet on a weekly basis in order to provide opportunities for young people to make music. However, we also feel that we provide a safe, happy, responsible well organised 'community' in which the children can learn, rehearse and be valued as an individual’, regardless of their background.
We currently have over 40 members in the band who rehearse and perform various concerts around the Northern region, helping fundraise for not only ourselves but also for other organisations.
