Lindley Band

The Lindley Brass Band has been established in the village of Lindley since the Victorian period and has been a prominent part of the community activities. During the early 1900s the band won a number of national trophies and have consistently been in the upper sections of the movement since.

Most notable contributors to this success has been Neil Jowett, who started as a player and over time returned as conductor, committee member and eventually president. Sadly Neil Jowett passed away a few years ago, but his legacy lives on with his 60 year contribution celebrated with a Blue Plaque outside the band room, in addition to the continuation of the community band associated with Lindley, Tower Brass.

The main band has a wide variety of ages, demographics and characters, like many other bands. However, it has always been a welcoming band, as well as one that has ambitions to be the best it can be. Band rehearsals are fun, yet challenging and caters for a wide variety of tastes, and performances vary from park jobs to collaborations with other music groups such as NYJO, as well as numerous vocal groups and primary chors.
