West Somerset Brass Band

West Somerset Brass Band

[title]

The West Somerset Brass Band is a group of musicians based in Watchet, West Somerset. Our aim is to perform and teach music in the community, with membership open to all regardless of age or ability. As the only brass band in West Somerset we are always keen to attract new members and learners of all ages whether beginners or established players, and to continue the brass band tradition.

We were formed in 1952 under our original name of the Watchet Royal British Legion Band, with two of our founder members playing until 2022. A wide variety of music is performed which is the basis of the brass band's universal appeal. This enables us to undertake an eclectic range of engagements including formal concerts, fetes, carnivals and church services around West Somerset and beyond.

As well as the main Band we have a Training Band and a Learner Group, to which we welcome children and adults alike who are interested in learning a brass instrument and would like to join the band. Instruments are provided and we have a full training programme in place delivered by experienced teachers. It does not matter if you do not have any prior musical knowledge, all we ask is that you are keen to learn and have a go.

So if you want to learn, or can already play, please get in touch.
