Brass Foundations is Brass Bands England's education programme, led by a team of five Youth Development Brass Specialists who have years of collective experience and skills in performing, teaching and inspiring.

Anyone can get involved - whether you're a beginner wanting to learn more, a professional looking to improve your teaching, or a school wanting to feature more music-making. You can join the BBE mailing list to receive updates on Brass Foundations and other BBE initiatives.

After a successful launch we are pleased to announce that the programme has now been extended until July 2022.

What's planned for Brass Foundations 2022?

  • Free workshops for young people, delivered by Brass Bands England
  • A range of online and in-person training and networking opportunities for brass educators
  • Free brass playing workshops and performances for schools
  • Professional development opportunities for those working in schools to have confidence in their music-making and include it in their teaching
  • Youth band leaders network to connect those working with young brass band performers
  • Access to tailored advice and support in brass education and youth banding provision
  • Weekly Facebook live show Brass Chat exploring the musical beginnings and careers of well-known faces in the world of brass;
  • Support on partnership development for those operating in our current target regions
  • National initiatives for you to take part in, including #PromsInThePlayground summer music in schools programme
