Event description

The Brass Band Conductors' Association is delighted to be holding its annual conducting competition final live at Eccles Town Hall in Greater Manchester on Saturday 18 June.

Semi-finals: 11am - 3pm

The first part of the day features 12 semi-finalists who will each have the opportunity to rehearse the Hammonds Band playing the test pieces Contest Music by William Heaton and The Essence of Time by Peter Graham.  You are welcome to watch the rehearsals and refreshments will be available in the cafe.

From these 12 semi-finalists guest adjudicators Paul Hindmarsh and David Thornton will choose 6 conductors to go through to the final.

Gala Concert with finalists: 7.30pm

The evening's Gala Concert will feature the 6 finalists each conducting the Eccles Borough Band in a concert item for the first half of the concert. The band will then entertain us for the second half of the evening with their own concert programme.  This will be followed by the announcement of the winners and prize-giving.

The evening will provide a great opportunity for conductors to speak to representatives and members of the Brass Band Conductors' Association and find out more about what it has to offer.

The whole event is free, with a retiring collection made at the Gala Concert.

We look forward to seeing you there!
