Registration is closed for this event
Essential for players of all abilities. A practical workshop day to improve your playing, and improve your band!

"It’s a really friendly atmosphere and just really easy-going. Loads of friendly faces there and you learn a lot of stuff that you might not have thought about before"

"I really wish we brought more of our band! I’d really encourage people from other bands to come along. There’s a lot to be learnt."

“It felt really relaxed knowing that there were people from different age ranges, different bands and different backgrounds, but you’re all there just trying to improve your playing.”

This duo of workshops led by performance experts Paul Cosh and Dr Roger Webster looks to improve the quality of your playing, and therefore improve the overall quality of your band performance.

The Player Development workshops offer excellent value for money and a worthwhile networking opportunity with bands in the local area. In these sessions, Paul Cosh focuses on the essentials of brass playing, exploring practical exercises to improve individual playing standards and thus contributing to overall improvements in bands’ performances.
Speaking about the workshop days, Paul Cosh said: "The support of BBE in this project has been invaluable and demonstrates the organisation's forward-thinking approach to helping bands improve and sustain a bright future."
Dr Roger Webster’s attention is drawn to the mental and physiological aspects of efficient practice and performance methods, exploring focus performance ‘anxiety’ and motivation. While both sessions will deliver a consistent message that focussing on improving the quality of individual players can drastically affect the quality of your band overall.
"BBE has taken the initiative to run a varied programme of workshops for our brass bands. Players, teachers and conductors — please come along and take part! Ask those awkward questions and help move our bands back to their place at the forefront of the banding world!" - Roger Webster
