The National Youth Brass Band Championships of Great Britain is back! Enjoy a musical day out as a family from just £5 per person. This page is where you can book your tickets for the event - for further general event information, please visit our Youth Champs web page and Youth Champs FAQ.

Why should I come to the Youth Champs?

You may have a family member or friend who is performing in one of the participating bands, or may have a young person in your group who is a keen brass player. You might just want to support the banding community’s future brass playing talent.

Well, now’s your chance! On 25 March the hall at Stockport Grammar will host to over 1,300 young people from all over the UK, in three highly enjoyable competing and non-competing sections. Find out more below about how the event works.

Youth Champs 2023: what’s involved?

Bands will perform in three sections: ABRSM Championship, Performance, and Besson Prodige Showcase. All sections will perform programmes of their own choice. 

The event will be hosted by popular children’s television presenter, BBC Journalist and musician, Alex Humphreys, who will be joined by longstanding compère for the event, David Hayward.

The event will also host a trade and careers fair, offering the chance to find out more about musical traders and manufacturers such as Besson Instruments, sponsors of the Showcase section.

The schedule

Youth Champs is a full day of music making, from around 9am until almost 9pm. You are welcome to choose a portion of the day to attend and can turn up when you like. Championships bands play in the afternoon. Please find provisional timings below.

Besson Prodige Showcase Section – up to 14 bands - First band performs 11:30 (arrival 10:30) 

• 15+ Bands – Morning - First Band Performs 9.15 (arrival 8.30) 
• Afternoon - First Band Performs 13:00 (arrival 12:00) 

Performance Section – First band performs 9:00 (arrival 8:00) 

ABRSM Championship Section – First band performs 12:30 (arrival 11:30)

Advance tickets: Adults: £13, Children: £5, u5: Free
Day tickets: Adults: £15, Children: £7.50, u5: Free

**Please note that our booking system will ask if you are a member of a band. If you are not, please type n/a in this field. Our system only allows for one order at a time, so if you need a combination of tickets that isn't listed, please submit a second order.

Tickets purchased will be collected from the desk at the entrance on the day of the contest, under the name you provided when purchasing online.

Please note that the 2023 contest will not be broadcast online
