Ticket Lottery

Exterior of Symphony Hall in the early evening, The building is a large block with multiple levels of large glass windows.

The European Brass Band Festival TICKET LOTTERY is now closed. Please find details and terms of the lottery below.

This is your chance to get your tickets a full three months before everyone else by gaining priority booking for the Championship elements of the Festival, which will take place 30 Apr – 1 May 2022 at Symphony Hall Birmingham. 400 tickets are up for grabs for the best seats in the house!

HOW DO I ENTER?

To enter, all you need to do is visit the EBBF Ticket Lottery form and submit your details. You’ve got just under three weeks to submit your entry before the ticket lottery window closes at 11.59pm on Saturday 11 September. Entries are welcomed from all nations.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST, AND WHAT’S INCLUDED?

It costs £1 to enter the lottery for your chance to gain priority booking to the Championships, plus the cost of the tickets if you are successful. If you are successful, you will be charged on the card you provided for the full price of one or two (depending on your selection) weekend tickets priced at £125 per ticket plus a £3 booking fee (per ticket).

Successful entrants will receive entry to the full European Brass Band Championships and Challenge Section, Youth Brass Band Contest, Gala Concert featuring Louis Dowdeswell and the Cory Band, and competitors’ party. It does not include entry to the concerts on 28 & 29 April at Town Hall Birmingham.

If your entry is successful, full payment will be taken before the end of September. Proceeds raised via the £1 entry to the lottery will be donated to BBE's ground-breaking Brass Foundations education programme.

WHEN WILL I KNOW IF I’M SUCCESSFUL?

Successful entries will be allocated at random and announced via email at midday on Monday 13 September. If you manage to nab some tickets, make sure to share your news on the hashtag #EBBF!

WHAT IF I DON’T GET TICKETS?

If you don’t manage to get tickets through the lottery, don’t worry. General ticket sales will open on Friday 10 December where places for the Championship weekend will be available along with tickets for the wider programme of events taking place within the Festival. Information on the full event programme can be found on our EBBF page.

Competing bands will have an opportunity to purchase tickets in advance of the general release, as has been the case in past years (40 tickets for Challenge and Championship Section bands, 50 for bands competing in the two Youth Sections).

WHY IS THERE A TICKET LOTTERY?

Each year the demand for tickets to the Championships far outstrips demand. This leads to websites regularly crashing as tickets go on sale and getting a ticket can depend on the quality of your local infrastructure. By making early ticket sales available via a ballot this prevents a need for tickets to be purchased as soon as they go on sale and resultant spike in Web traffic. The earlier release of tickets to the 2022 events will also allow guests to plan and prepare any travel arrangements required to attend EBBF 2022, which can take more planning than may have been the case in the past.

COVID AND THE EBBF

BBE is committed to ensuring the Festival will follow all the necessary precautions to maintain the safety of both participants and audience members alike. It is not possible at this time to specify exactly what measures these will be, given the uncertainty regarding the prevalence of Covid-19 in April 2022. BBE will continue to work within government guidance and with support from the management at Symphony Hall Birmingham.
