Less Tubby for Tuba

In January of this year, the musical Director at Loxley Silver Band set himself a weight loss challenge. Lee Dunkley confirmed: “My aim is to lose 3 stone by the end of July and whilst benefiting myself I'm very much hoping to benefit Loxley Silver Band by trying to raise some money towards a new instrument. I will be eternally grateful for any donations or sponsors, I express my huge thanks in advance for both your encouragement and support. I am suggesting £1 per pound, but all donations will be gratefully received”. The band secretary, Stuart Young, jokingly said; "We are now happy at our MD's decision and very much look forward to the prospect of being able to actually see our audiences at last!” Loxley Silver Band is a hard working brass band based in north Sheffield. The not-for-profit band supports children and adults to learn to play music, provides brass band music at a number of community events and has recently started a veterans band especially for mature brass instrument players who just like to get together regularly to play. Any donations to Lee’s challenge will be used to buy new instruments, in particular, the band is hoping to buy a new Tuba in the next few months, which, new, cost in the region of £6,000. Lee in on target to meet his weight loss challenge by 31st July 2016 and would be very grateful to receive some last minute support.
