Brass in Concert ticket sales to launch later this month

Brass in Concert - tickets go on sale June 28th
Monday, 6 June, 2022

Organisers of the Brass in Concert Championship have announced that the much anticipated ticket launch for the 2022 event will take place on Tuesday 28 June, when sales will open at 10.00am via the Sage Gateshead website and Box Office (0191 443 4661 / boxoffice@sagegateshead.com).

The Brass in Concert Chairman, Paul Beere, said: “We’re a little later than usual launching ticket sales this year and I know that a lot of our loyal audience are wanting to start planning their Brass in Concert experience. So, we’re releasing as much information as possible now to enable people to plan ahead.”

Brass in Concert is widely recognised as a North East success story and from a ‘one-off’ occasion to celebrate HM The Queen’s Silver Jubilee in 1977 has grown to become the leading event of its kind in the world. The event prides itself on featuring world-class bands at elite-level, offering unique and engaging sets. Alongside creative programming, innovative lighting and choreography add to the audio-visual experience of the event.

Paul Beere continued: “It really is a special atmosphere in Sage One and well worth experiencing in person. With last year’s event being very close to selling out, I’d encourage everyone to save the ticket launch date and make sure to book early.”

Brass in Concert 2022: what you need to know

This year will mark the 45th edition of the championship and will feature 12 top-class bands from England, Norway and Wales, with the contest being compèred by the evergreen Frank Renton, his 28th season. A list of competing bands can be found on the Brass in Concert website.

The day will run from 11.00am - 9.00pm on Saturday 19 November with a 45 minute break scheduled for 3.15pm to allow audience members to grab some refreshments and, of course, to catch up with banding friends and acquaintances.

After the final band has left the stage, the closing awards ceremony will offer a range of prizes in areas such as new compositions and arrangements, quality of performance to best sections. The winning band will receive a mighty cash prize that they can use to support their work and continue delighting audiences with outstanding brass band performances.

Paul added: “We can’t wait to catch up with everyone for this year’s Championship - and this year we’ve squeezed in a couple of extra bands, offering even more value for money!”

Tickets for the event will be on sale from £27 plus booking fee. Tickets will be available to purchase from 28 June. Going as a group? You can start planning your trip now by securing your accommodation with Rooms for Groups.
