Wednesday, 9 November, 2022

Brass Bands England has announced that the first webinar of its 2023 online events series will be in partnership with the Brass Band Conductors’ Association on the topic of ‘Conducting into the future’, covering all of the essentials of running a youth band.

In this one hour virtual event, BBCA Chair James Holt and BBCA Scottish Regional Representative Stuart Black will share their insight and expertise on delivering a great youth band experience.

The session will cover:

  • Essentials of running a youth band rehearsal
  • Differences between adult and youth rehearsals
  • Safeguarding considerations
  • Bringing a sense of fun whilst driving forward
  • Bridging the gap between your youth and senior band
  • Forging links between youth bands, hubs, music centres and the local community
  • Engaging young people in bands after Year 11
  • Outreach through joint concerts

The interactive webinar is suitable for those who currently lead youth bands, or individuals currently considering setting up or leading a youth band. By the end of the session attendees should be armed wil ideas to help them inspire young players to engage with banding into the future.

Book your place via the Brass Bands England’s website bbe.org.uk/events, with free places for members of BBE or BBCA, and £10 for non-members.
