Another success for a Brass Bands England member band using our exclusive Fundraising Service!
After utilising the service, Burbage Band (Buxton) have successfully secured a total of £36,885 for their brand new and exciting project entitled The Burbage Works.
The Burbage Works is a multi-faceted project, consisting of a specially written and composed performance showcasing a history of the band and brass band music from their formation in 1861 right up until the present day. The performance will also be accompanied by spoken word, poetry and exciting visuals to really bring this rich history to life. The band will also be working on cataloguing and archiving some of their most interesting historical artefacts, some of which will be contributed to the national Brass Bands Archive at Heritage Quay in Huddersfield. The entire project will be recorded in a video documentary, to be submitted to various film festivals upon completion.
Sam Pollard, principal euphonium and Project Manager, said: “Burbage Band (Buxton) are very grateful to Beth Lambert and the team at BBE for helping us gain substantial grants from both Arts Council England and the National Lottery Heritage Fund for our Burbage Works project. Beth put a lot of hard work into the applications, even working some weekends to get it all finished. The team were extremely responsive to any questions, and have been a pleasure to work with throughout.”

There will be three events as part of the ongoing Burbage project. An historic recreation of a Whist Dance and Drive on Saturday 18th May at 5:00pm at the Burbage Institute, a performance of the composition together with accompanied poetry, spoken word and visual elements to take place at the Buxton Methodist Church (as part of the Buxton Fringe Festival) on Saturday 20th July, and a further performance at Stoller Hall in Manchester on Saturday 14th September. Tickets are available now for the Stoller Hall performance, which promises to be a sell out!
