Eleven bands will perform at the Glasshouse International Centre for Music this November in the 47th Brass in Concert Championship, presented in association with World of Brass, Banks Group and Yamaha, and delivered in partnership with Brass Bands England.

The 47th Brass in Concert Championship

Eleven of the finest brass bands in the world will come together on Saturday 16 November, each offering a uniquely crafted performance devised to entertain. Including the current Brass in Concert Champion, Foden’s, bands from England, Scotland, Wales, and Norway will compete in the event and will be introduced to the iconic Sage One stage by the inimitable and evergreen Frank Renton.

The competing bands are:

Aldbourne
Brighouse and Rastrick
Carlton Main Frickley Colliery
Cory
Flowers
Foden’s
GUS
Hammonds
Krohnengen
the cooperation band
Tredegar

Speaking on behalf of Brass in Concert, CEO Nigel Stevens commented: ‘We’re delighted with the field of bands taking part in this year’s event, and we’re especially pleased to welcome back Cory, GUS, Krohnengen and the cooperation band, which all return to the festival after a few years away. The standard of playing and the innovative music selections by the competing bands are so high and it really is an open playing field, as evidenced by the three different winning bands over the past three years. This makes for a great day of inspiration and listening for both the audience in the hall and the international viewers watching via Wobplay, and we can't wait to see which of our eleven top bands will take the coveted Brass in Concert title in 2024.”

Be the first to secure tickets

The Brass in Concert Championship 2024 will take place at The Glasshouse International Centre for Music, Gateshead, on Saturday 16 November, with tickets going on sale on Wednesday 24 July. Tickets will be available for £30 or £38.50 + booking fee.

But… in what order will the bands play? The Brass in Concert organising team are asking brass band fans to submit their predictions for first and last bands in the draw to be in with a chance of winning two tickets to the contest. There are up to three pairs of tickets to give away for the first correct submissions received.

The draw for this year’s contest will take place on Saturday 4 May at the European Brass Band Championships in Palanga. Those at the event will be able to attend the draw in-person and it will also be streamed live on the Wobplay platform. As a bit of assistance, the draw will be seeded, ensuring that the top half of bands from the 4barsrest World Rankings will either have all the odd numbers or all the even numbers, although this won’t be decided until it actually takes place!

Draw predictions must be submitted before 5pm on Saturday 4 May to be included. For future competitions and news you can register for the Brass in Concert newsletter.
