You can become a member of BBE either as an organisation or as an individual

We’ve recently launched a new partnership with Tipd, the free app that helps your band to seamlessly collect donations and Gift Aid. In a world where cash is no longer king, Tipd allows bands to collect digital donations from a single scan or tap of the phone. It’s free to use (a small admin fee is paid by the donator), you receive 100% of the donation and Gift Aid can be captured simply for charities. Simple!
Now’s a great time to register. We’ve got the Autumn concert season around the corner and Christmas carolling to look forward to as well.
This blog will guide you through setting up your band’s Tipd account (here’s a helpful video which you can use alongside these step-by-step instructions). We also have a follow-up blog so you can make the most of Tipd’s clever features.
What do I need to sign up for Tipd?
To get the ball rolling, make sure you’ve downloaded Tipd to your phone. It’s also possible to sign up from a computer if you prefer. Please have the following information to hand for the sign up/verification process:
- Organisation name
- Registered address
- Website
- Contact email
- Bank account details for payouts
- Document for Proof Of Business e.g. business/charity registration (if your band is not a charity or registered organisation, a recent organisation bank statement can be used)
- Personal details for a single named individual with responsibility for the organisation who can undergo an ID check
Then, it’s time to sign up for an account with your chosen email address and password. It’s fine to use your own email – any admins added at a later point will get their own login.
Organisation vs individual account
After signup, select ‘My organisation’ if the money will be paid into the band's account. Organisation accounts are for limited companies, charities, unincorporated associations, community interest companies or any other organisation with a dedicated bank account.
You’ll then be prompted to pick a team username. This will generate your unique link and QR code to collect donations. The username is public facing with no spaces or special characters allowed, so go for something simple like your band name e.g. ‘brassbandsengland’.
Inputting your organisation details
At this point you will be asked to supply official details such as your organisation’s registered name, charity number, business address etc. This is an important check to comply with Know Your Business (KML) and anti money-laundering laws.
Submit these details and within seconds you will have your very own unique QR code and Tipd link, ready to take donations! Please note you still need to input your bank details and verify your organisation before you can receive payouts.
Linking your bank account and verification
The final steps of the Tipd set-up process are simple:
- Click ‘Back to Team Options’
- Click on ‘Manage Bank Account’ to add your organisation’s bank details (account name, sort code and account number)
- Return to the Team Options page
- Click on ‘Organisation Verification’ to upload your Proof of Business document and organisation representative details (including photo ID and proof of address)
These verification details will be manually reviewed by Tipd. Once verified, your band will be ready to receive payouts from any donations made through Tipd. Hooray! Please see our next blog for great ideas on how to display and promote your Tipd profile to encourage donations.
