We’re back! The award nominated Light the Lakes Massed Band will be returning to the Lake District this summer and participating in the unique fundraising event, for Care of Police Survivors (COPS), that is Light the Lakes, for the third year, and we’re so excited! There will be a concert in a cave, music on top of mountains, and an open air massed band concert all crammed into one really special weekend.
Last year we welcomed 50 musicians, representing 21 different bands, from all over the country. This year we are hoping to reach even more players, representing even more bands, to provide music across more peaks, and to feature more whole bands, alongside our incredible massed band, during our Saturday concert. Provisional Timetable
Friday 21st June
2000hrs – Meet, Rydal, Lake District
2100hrs – Informal Memorial Concert Rydal Cave
2300hrs – Start ascent of peaks
0230hrs – Play atop of peaks
0300hrs – Lighting of Flares accompanied by Last Post and Reveille, National Anthem
0345hrs – Descend peak as dawn breaks
Saturday 22nd June
1200hrs – Meet Brathay Hall, Ambleside
1300hrs – 1700hrs Massed Band event featuring sets from guest bands throughout the afternoon
Evening – Social event
