About this event
We invite the entire community to join us on Remembrance Sunday as we come together to honour the service and sacrifice of all those who have defended our freedoms and protected our way of life. This solemn and significant event will be led by the band and will weave a thread of music and remembrance through our town.
The Morning Procession and Church Service
The day begins with a poignant procession as the band leads the parade down Park Lane from the Civic Hall car park toward St George's Church.
The procession will enter St George's Church for the formal Service of Remembrance. The band will play a selection of traditional hymns during the service, for our collective act of remembrance.
The Act of Remembrance: Last Post and Two-Minute Silence
Following the conclusion of the church service, we will gather outside the church at 11:00 AM for the formal Act of Remembrance.
The two-minute silence will commence with 'The Last Post,' played by the band's Solo Cornet player. We encourage all attendees to stand in solemn reflection during the silence, which will then be closed with 'The Rouse.' This is a powerful and sacred moment to honour the fallen.
Return Parade
Once the Act of Remembrance is complete, the band will lead the community back in the return procession up Park Lane, marking the close of our formal commemoration.
This is a time to reflect on the bravery, selflessness, and sacrifice made by our Armed Forces community, their families, and all those who have lost their lives in conflict. We encourage all residents and local organisations to attend and show their support.
Please check the Parish Council or Church notice boards for exact timings. We look forward to seeing you stand with us to remember.
