BBE Launches the Brass Band Conference Awards 2020

Brass Bands England (BBE) is keen to give credit to those individuals and organisations in the banding world who have made an exceptional contribution to our community. Be it through inspiring young people, tireless dedication, leading creative and imaginative projects and collaborations, or bringing about positive social change, there is plenty to be recognised and celebrated. The annual Brass Band Conference Awards present an opportunity to do just that.

Nominations are now being accepted for the following awards:

  • The Innovation Award

We are looking for people or organisations who are blazing a new trail for brass bands. We want to hear from you if you know someone who has done something innovative to make your band better or perhaps by nominating an organisation you think is really leading the way.

  • The Lifetime Achievement Award

For this we are looking for people or organisations who have really made a difference to their local community or carried out wider charitable endeavours.

  • The Social Impact Award

We are looking for people who have made an outstanding contribution to banding whether that's musically or through band organisation. We want to hear about the people that have shaped your banding experience for the better.

  • The Brian W. Hicks Memorial Shield for Services to Youth

The winner of this award will have made a huge impact on youth in the banding sector demonstrated through their own personal commitment and dedication.

Visit: https://www.bbe.org.uk/what-we-do/brass-band-conference-awards to make a nomination. The closing date is midnight on 14 August 2020.

Nominations can be made by anyone who is not a BBE trustee or member of staff and the name of the nominator will not be revealed. The awarding panel will comprise a group of BBE trustees and staff.

The winners will be announced at the Brass Band Conference, which this year will be held online on Saturday 19 September. Further details of this will be announced on 1 June. Each award winner will receive a memento to commemorate their achievements and these will be presented at suitable occasions after the event.
