As part of our delivery partnership, last week saw Helen Minshall, Youth Development Brass Specialist, from Brass Bands England visit seven schools throughout the North East of England. Brass workshops were delivered as part of the Brass in Concert Aspire programme, which will culminate in a day at The Glasshouse on Friday 17th November and a performance on the Sage 1 stage.
The workshops were a huge hit with the children, preparing a wide variety of music with some well known tunes you may recognise! The 280 students have created a performance showcasing their hard work, using instruments varying from cornets to jHorns - everyone is included to have fun and be inspired!
Helen commented: “The energy and enthusiasm of the children was inspiring and it was a great joy to see the fantastic brass tuition in every school, giving so many young people the opportunity to learn brass. The excitement is definitely building ahead of their performance next week!”
Tickets for the Brass in Concert Festival are available to purchase from The Glasshouse website. Places for the Aspire final concert are just £2.50, or free for under 16s.
Come along and support the future brass stars of the North East, it is set to be a truly inspiring event!
