Next round of ‘Elevate’ collaborative programme opens for bands

Friday, 20 October, 2023

BBE has announced that the second round of applications for its collaborative programme - ‘Elevate’ - is now open.

The programme will see BBE member bands looking to challenge their normal performance practice being paired with an artist who will support them to explore new ideas, genres and ways of working in a new collaborative partnership.

Elevate Artists

The final line-up of artists for pairing with bands is:

  • Sonic Threads Duo -  classical Indian vocalist and harpist

  • Josh Coates - theatre maker

  • Rebecca Denniff - multi-instrumentalist, synthesisers, composer

  • Calum Perrin - Composer, documentary maker and sound artist

BBE’s Chief Operating Officer Sarah Baumann commented: ‘We were very encouraged to see so many applications for Round 1 of the programme, it’s clear there is the desire in the sector to collaborate and be challenged by working in new ways. We announced our first pairing at The Brass Band Conference last weekend and we can’t wait to present their performance outcome in a few months' time.’

More information on the artists who your band can collaborate with is available on the BBE website’s Elevate page.

How can my band apply?

Applications for brass bands to participate are open until Monday 27 November via the Elevate bands information page.

If you have any questions about the programme, you can register for the Q&A Zoom session on Monday 23 October or Wednesday 22 November 2023, or email elevate@bbe.org.uk
