The Brass Band Conductors' Association (BBCA) is here to support and bring together conductors and those interested in picking up the baton from all over the world, and is going from strength to strength. Join today!

BBCA has a representative for each contesting area in the country, but we have vacancies for the West of England and Wales. If you're interested please email member@bbe.org.uk. You would need to join the BBCA if you are not already a member.

BBCA 2025 Conducting Competition Gala Concert Tickets

Elland Silver Band present ‘Lights, Camera, Action’ – an exciting evening of film and TV music for all the family.

This gala concert is also the culmination of the Brass Band Conductors’ Association Conducting Competition, which will have been taking place throughout the day in Halifax Minster. Elland Silver Band’s conductor Dave Mcglynn will share the podium with 5 finalists who will each conduct Elland Silver Band in one of their concert items. Whilst the band entertains us the adjudicators will select the winners who will be announced and presented with their prizes at the close of the concert.

Tickets for the Gala Concert, priced at £10 are available from Eventbrite and the Minster shop from May 2nd. Under 16s free. Doors open 7pm with pop-up bar and raffle. Seating is unreserved. Book now!

Watch the Conducting Competition Semi-final

Halifax Minster will be open during the day from 11.15am to 3.00pm for members of the public to watch the semi-finals of the conducting competition, during which 10 semi-finalists rehearse the championship Hammonds Band playing sections of 2 chosen brass band test pieces. There is no entry fee and the cafe will be open.

The day will provide a great opportunity for conductors, and would-be conductors to speak to representatives and members of BBCA and find out more about what we have to offer.

Trailblazers - conductors panel discussion with Katrina Marzella-Wheeler

Katrina Marzella puts questions to acclaimed and aspiring conductors about their conducting journeys - their inspiration, challenges and highlights at the BBCA's March virtual networking. Amongst the international panel was Jessica Sneeringer from the US’s first all-women Athena Brass Band and Anne Crookston, who has a wealth of experience from a wide-ranging musical career as a player, adjudicator and conductor, as well as guest women conductors setting out on their conducting careers.

Russell Gray is the President of the BBCA, with James Holt as Chair. The Exec is made up of conductors from a wide range of banding backgrounds and others who support banding.  Meet the Exec.
